It costs about 40 dollars( I live in East-Europe, we do not have tivo and stuff like that), the brand is Vortex. Is it a good brand, if not what brands should I be looking for? What do these compatibility akronims means, do they include normal television sets? DVD, MPEG4, DivX, SVCD, VCD, Kodak, JPEGCD (and others like CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3-these i get.) Hi - I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I'm saving a final cut express movie as an mpeg4 file via quick time on my mac. The file plays fine on the mac, but when I burn it to a CD - then insert that into my PC - I come up with 4 folders when I click on the D drive. The folders are labeled CDI, MPEGAV, SEGMENT and VCD. All folders hold files in unknown formats - but there's no video. Am I doing something wrong in the burn process? I thought the mpeg4 format is non-specific when it comes to computer systems. Anybody have any advice? Thanks in advance! more

Hi there, File-wise is there a difference between the two mentioned file types MPG and MPEG (as seen as an extension to a video file)? I really need to change some files to MPEG so they can be viewable on a CD-R when played on my DVD Player. However when i put in a CD-R full of MPG files, it came up on my player as 'Unknown Disc'. Can someone who knows tell me what file type enables you to convert a file to one with a MPEG extension as opposed to an MPG extension? I have been using this one so far: MPEG1 - CustomMPEG-1 Format is this wrong? My Home theater system, Philips make claims, it can play MPEG4 files (Simple Profile, Advanced Simple Profile) as well as DivX discs ( 3.11, 4.x, 5.x). However when I copy these files to CD the player does not recognize any file. When I use any of the recorders like Nero or Roxi they try to convert the mp4 files into avi format which makes the size unwieldy and it is actually a conventional VCD. How to record the mp4 or DivX files on cd which the player can recognize? more
