Voting Question: What is knee immobilizer?
I'm from czech republic. My medial collateral ligament ( of my left knee) got over-distended. And so, the doctor give me crutches and 'othis' ( he called it that way. i don't know how you spelled it though.) My question is 1) is what i'm wearing ( othis ) is called knee immobilizer? coz it has straps around it.. and it got hinges, at the side of the knee, allowing you to adjust the degree of bending and flexing.. my doc put me at 30 degrees.He advised me not to move around so much and put some ice or a packet of frozen vegetables on my knee. ( well , i;m a bit confused because most of knee immobiliser on the net doesn't have hinges ... ) 2) what's the different between knee braces, knee stabilizers and knee immobilizer? 3) should i really sit quietly, not moving around so much? Does it really help the healing process? A few times of walking with crutches to the bathroom won't have bad effect on the healing process, right? 4) Any nutritional suggestion to aid the healing process? And any exercise to help me with my weight while i'm at this point of treatment? coz the doc said, my weight might have a little bit of influence for this matter.. Have 2 broken strap scrapbook hinges, staples pulled out, need to find some, help! I bought a new OTTB mare a few months ago, and she cribs (not wood chewing). She was gaining weight like I wanted for awhile, but recently she almost started dropping weight (around her ribs). She's out 24/7 unless it rains, and is thrown hay all the time. But she goes over to the water trough and cribs. When I find her doing it, it's usually only for a few minutes, then she goes back to the hay. But my boarder says sometimes she'll stay there for hours. Her pasture doesn't have much grass, and in a week or so we're moving her to a field that had been saved, and has huge grass throughout, so I'm thinking that might help. I didn't want to put a collar on her in the field, just personal preference... But what are your views on cribbing collars? Experiences with the nutcracker/hinged, french, and miracle collars? Also, what are some products that could keep her off the wood in her stall? (I don't want to keep a strap on her in her stall) We let her crib in a certain spot in her stall, but want to keep her off the rest of the wood. I've tried tobasco sauce and Chew Stop...haven't worked very well.Thanks guys, you'll probably save me a bunch of money! She started cribbing, probably a few years ago, on the track. She's a 4 y.o. OTTB, so she /was/ probably kept up in a stall most of the time on the track, so it was definetly a result of boredom back then. But like I said, she's been outside 24/7 for nearly 4 months now. She's in a decent sized pasture, with 3 others mares. We're moving her to a herd with super-playful horses, so that might help entertain her a bit more, and the water trough in that field isn't by the entrance, so she shouldn't go straight to it all the time. Very good idea about making things unable to be cribbed on...I'll definetly put thought into that when we design our own barn and fields. But unfortunately as of now, I don't have control over the style of water trough. Luckily the fence is all wire mesh and T-posts.Actually, recent scientific research has revealed that cribbing isn't learned. The scent of roses was over powering in Emily Flynn’s room. Valentines Day was a day ago and it was her most valued and favourable day she has ever spent with her boyfriend. Ok, so I have asked many questions about my knee before, so now I have another one. So I found out that my knee cap isn't aligned with the track that it is suppose to be on, so it has to pop itself back into place a lot. But because it pops itself back into place so much it also causes tendonitis in both the quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon. So I have a knee strap for my knee that puts pressure on the tendons, and keeps my knee cap aligned, and it works perfectly. But the problem is, is when I go to the gym and run for about 20 minutes, my knee is weak and gives out sometimes. I have a knee brace with metal hinged bars to stable my knee, but my knee cap and tendonitis problem makes it painful. I've tried sports tape under my bigger knee brace but it doesn't stick or work, so I'm stuck. Can someone recommend a knee brace that can help me with my problem? I got a knee brace on Monday to try to push my knee cap back in place and support my MCL. It is one of those snazzy metal, hinged braces that has a metal piece about 6 inches below my knee and another one 6 inches above my knee with Velcro straps behind each of those as well as straps about 3 inches below/above those to hold the knee cap. Since I have had my brace on my my quadriceps and my calf muscle have been extremely sore. Is this because my brace is too tight or is it because my leg is being forced to move in a certain way?The brand is Bledsoe and I had it fitted but I had to readjust it a little. I've come up with several different torture devices. My personal favorite I refer to as "The Chiropractor". It's a machine that consists of several metal squares connected together by hinges. It looks like a dentist's chair, but it's a mechanical hydraulic machine that turns and you strap the person to it. The open spaces where the hinges connect are where the person's joints go. All the parts do 180-degree turns until they're flush against each other. They turn forward, backward, and sideways. The machine bends the person's feet inward until their ankles are touching their inner forelegs. It hyper-extends their knees until their shins are flush against the front of their thighs and then hyper-abducts their hips until their outer thighs are flush against their rib cages. It does the exact same thing to their wrists, forearms, and shoulders, too. The last thing The Chiropractor will do is bend the person's spine backwards until it snaps like a branch. How does that sound?Actually it won't necessarily break all their bones. What it WILL do is tear all the ligaments, cartilage, and tendons (something even more painful than breaking bones.) To the person mentioning the passing out, you're probably right. I imagine they would suffer so much internal bleeding they would go into shock.Actually, I came up with this device 2 years ago before Saw III ever came out. It was originally going to twist their joints, too. I altered it after seeing Saw to avoid plagiarism. Mine doesn't twist them. It bends them sideways and backwards. My son was running in my kitchen the other day and hit my strap on my Canon XTI. It fell hit the floor and the hinge stopper pieces for the flash broke. I don't know where or how I can get the parts to fix it. but I need to b/c I can't hold down the flash forever! In January of this year, I was involved in a VERY serious accident. I twisted my leg causing my kneecap to fully dislocate, spraining my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and medial collateral ligament (MCL), while not tearing any ligaments, or any of my meniscus. I have since made an excellent recovery, having only minimal instability. I follow the exercises I was told to do by my Physical Therapist, and have since returned to basketball. About a week or so ago, I damaged my brace beyond repair, causing me to ask these two questions. First, is there any kind of exercises I should be doing to both help strenghten my knee and my entire lower body? And also, what kind of replacement brace should I buy? (it has to be a metal hinged one with adjustable straps for compression, those are nice and tight so I can spin in the post as I did before the injury =D ) Any input/links/even recommend a brand from experience or peer use would be excellent! You can charge 2 wii motes at the same time, so you don't have to waste money for batteries. One of the wii motes wrist strap is a little twisted, thats why I am including an extra wrist strap in this bundle. This bundle comes with seven games. the games are wii sports (five games in one), mario kart wii with the racing wheel, and I also have super smash bros brawl. In my opinion those are my favorite games for the wii. All games come with all original packing and manuals Every game works 100%. The nintendo wii is a hundred percent in working condition as well. I have the original box for the nintendo wii, but not the manuals. All the plugs that came with the wii are in this bundle. The top of the nintendo wii (Where you can plug in game cube controllers) one of the hinge is cracked. You can still easily open and close the flap, its just that one side is cracked. This does not effect anything in this bundle. The flap closes and opens without problem. i had arthoscopic knee surgery 3 weeks ago. since then, ive been confined to a knee brace that is made of two thick foam pads (one on lower leg, other on thigh) w/ metal rods and hinges on the sides and held on w/ velcro straps. i cant take it apart to wash it, so is there any way i can get it clean? i wear the thing 24/7, so it gets nasty fast. also, since i wear it all the time, and can take it off only for a short time, my skin has gotten really dry and is flaking off. i cant shower w/ the brace ( i still DO shower tho, ive devised a way) so i can only wipe my leg down. what can i use as a good moisturizer for my skin that doesnt have a greasy residue. id like to kno, cause the brace is sticking around for a long time. i had a lateral release, which means they put my kneecap back in place. any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks! moreResolved Question: I need help with my strap-hinge scrapbook?
I'm new to scrapbooking. (fyi) I just made a new page for my brand new scrapbook and I went to open it up and realized it hat Strap hinges with pages already in it... I know this is a really really dumb question. But am I supposed to glue my page to the pages in the book? The pages that came with the book with the metal hooks have hard boarders on both ends of the page. Like this | | . I layed the page I made on top of the page in the book and it doesnt quite fit (by about a cm). And - the scrapbook I have is kindof plain and I might get a newer/nicer one eventually. Are the pages interchangeable between books? Sorry if that is really confusing. I've been trying to look it up online and I havnt had any luck... If you need me to rephrase I can try. can any 1 please tell me how to change the shoulder height positoin on the straps ??? I need to make an exterior door (with doorframe) to my house's cellar. I have some basic tools (e.g. a sliding mitre saw) but no router. The cellar always stays above freezing point in winter, but the outside temperature can drop to 30 below. I'm worried about warping, and also about how I'm going to fit a lock. I'm thinking of strap hinges and perhaps a rim lock or similar - basically I need a simple design I can knock up in a few hours/days. Does any one know what those tiny hinges are called or found, that are located in the interior of those formal bags/purses? The bags I'm thinking of are usually used in formal occasions and have a chain as the strap but the strap can be tucked into the bag itself so then the bag turns into a purse/clutch. I really want to know if it's possible to buy the hinges that are attached to the bag so that the chain can be either used as the strap or then tucked in...Any information on this would be much appreciated. My KAFOs go from my toes to my thighs, with hinges at the knee. Shoes have to be wide, fully enclosed sides, at least 1 strap/laces. I can't go barefoot. Boots are best as I usually use crutches but intend to walk down the aisle without (hanging on to my fatehr for dear life!). So far I have failed to find anything, apart from White DMs (would that work?) or plimsolls. I'd put pretty ribbon or something instead of laces. What do you think?Aw, thanks guys! Also have to note I can't wear ballet shoes- they have to have a strong base, otherwise the KAFO soles flex and stab me in the feet. So I need the big flat soles to hold them down.
